- Teams will be nominated to the competition by their lab instructors based on their body of work throughout the semester. Nominated teams will then be evaluated by the Cornerstone Competition Nominating Committee, and the top 24 teams from this assessment will advance to the Cornerstone Competition Semi-finals. The committee will be made up of Cornerstone Lab instructors. Participating lab instructors will recuse themselves from evaluating teams they have nominated.
- It is not necessary for all team members to be present for the semi-final or final presentations. However, a minimum of 3 members of each team must participate in the presentations. Groups with 5 or fewer members are permitted to compete with 2 members present. Teams will not be nominated by their lab instructors unless they have committed to these participation requirements.
- All participants in the finals must arrive at 3:00 pm to register for the event in the atrium of Business Administration 1 (behind the central staircase).
- Teams will be assigned to one of four different presentation rooms, with six teams assigned to each room. The order of presentation will be randomly determined in advance.
- Each team will be allocated 15 minutes - 7 minutes for the presentation, 5 minutes for Q & A, and 3 minutes to transition to the next team.
- The judged as the best in each of the four rooms will advance to the finals. Prominent members of the Central Florida business, non-profit, and service learning community will participate as Finals judges
- A $1000 cash award will be distributed equally among participating members of the first-place team. Non-participating team members are not eligible to receive.
- The rubric used to evaluate the presentations will emphasize quality of projects and the benefits they created (substance) more than quality of presentations (style).
- All Semi-finals participants are invited to enjoy pizza and drinks at 5:00 pm in the atrium of BA1. The four Finalist teams will be announced at approximately 5:30 pm.
- The Finals will begin at 6:00 pm in the CEI (BA1-135) with the presentations concluding at 7:00 pm. The judges will be allowed 15 minutes to determine the First Place team among the Finalists. Awards will be presented and photos taken during our award ceremony, which will conclude at approximately 7:30 pm.
