UCF Team Wins Award at National Entrepreneurship Competition
(Orlando, Florida, March 28, 2006) - A UCF undergraduate entrepreneurship team of Adam Hill and Joseph Hurwitz won the 2006 national award for the Most Innovative and Creative Business Plan for their business plan for InfiniPūr Technology at the University’s inaugural trip to the nation’s premier undergraduate business plan competition. The team finished 4 th in the overall competition among nine finalists including the University of Arizona, the University of Michigan, Indiana State University, the Ohio State University, Baylor University, Texas Christian University, Northwood University, and Westmont College. Twenty-five schools, including many of the nation’s premier universities, submitted plans to the competition. Only the top nine finalists were invited to participate in the two-day competition held in Muncie, Indiana on March 24-25. The InfiniPūr Technology team successfully presented and defended their plan in to a panel of internationally recognized business leaders including the President and CEO of Kaduceus Medical, P.C., the CEO and Managing Director of Monument Capital Partners, and the Managing Director for the NASDAQ Stock Market. The team was accompanied by UCF Faculty member Richard Quinn in association with the university’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
The ninth annual International Enterprise Creation Competition, co-hosted by Ball State University, Syracuse University, and the University of Indiana, and sponsored by NASDAQ pits the nation’s top nine undergraduate business teams against each other in both written and oral business plan presentations. The overall winner in this year’s competition, the University of Arizona, is a three-time winner and has participated since the competition’s inception in 1998.
